Common questions

Is NEO Preschools free for parents?

Yes. Searching and sending an inquiry are free. NEO Preschools is an independent directory and is not affiliated with the State of Ohio or any program listed.

Where does the program information come from?

Program names, addresses, ages served, Step Up To Quality ratings, license details and funding options come from the State of Ohio's public Ohio Child Care Search (childcaresearch.ohio.gov). Each listing links to its official state record and the date we last checked it.

What do Bronze, Silver and Gold mean?

They are Ohio's Step Up To Quality ratings for licensed programs that go beyond minimum licensing rules. Ohio replaced its old 1–5 star scale with Bronze, Silver and Gold on July 7, 2024. Programs without a rating are still licensed.

Can I get help paying for preschool or child care?

Many Ohio families qualify for Publicly Funded Child Care, the Child Care Choice Voucher, the Ohio Preschool Program or Head Start, depending on income and other rules. Our cost guide explains each one with links to the official sources.
